How files flow

Browser to your bucket, with short-lived signed links

Your team uploads straight from the browser to your bucket. When a client reviews, their browser streams the file from your bucket using a signed link that expires quickly.

What we store

  • Comments, issues and annotations
  • Review rounds, checklists and sign-offs
  • Version history and which file belongs to which version
  • Accounts, projects and settings

What stays with you

  • The files themselves: video, packages, documents, images, audio
  • The access key, which is scoped to your bucket and revocable by you
  • Your choice of provider and region
  • Your storage bill, paid to your provider

The honest detail

“Not ours” does not mean our server never touches a file. Being precise about it:

  • Some tasks run on our server: generating thumbnails, converting PowerPoint and Word to PDF, converting video that will not play as uploaded, and unpacking HTML5 packages for review.
  • Conversion working copies are deleted once the job is done.
  • We do not keep a hosted copy of your content. If you stop using approvd.in, your files are already in your own account.
  • The review record (comments, sign-offs, version history) lives with us. You can export feedback to CSV.

Any S3-compatible storage

Setup takes a bucket name and an access key, a few CORS rules, and a Test connection button before you save. Step-by-step guides are in the app.

AWS S3

Use an IAM user scoped to the one bucket.

Cloudflare R2

Zero egress fees, a good fit when playback streams from your bucket.

Wasabi

S3-compatible endpoint per region.

Backblaze B2

Use the S3-compatible endpoint.

DigitalOcean Spaces

Use Spaces keys, per region.

MinIO (self-hosted)

Needs a valid TLS certificate.
